In times of COVID what do we prepare for

Me- Stamped by City Officials to be home quarantined for additional days as a precaution.

I’m not much of a pessimist, however there are a few things that I’ve learnt during the last few days of being in a lockdown around me. I’m sure a lot of people across the world have their experiences. I would love to know more about other’s experiences.

Some things to remember is that this could be long wait before we return to normalcy and see the day the same. Some of us have had extreme experiences (currently as I write, the worst affected are in Wuhan — China and Italy). Here goes

First Positive Things

  1. Exercise daily: Bare minimum take multiple walks on your terrace/garden. Most of my meetings I do are walking in my terrace garden.
  2. Cook, Clean, Sit together with family & friends talking something other than what is on social media.
  3. Call often, relatives, friends etc..
  4. Reduce social media. Watch news once a day not every hour.
  5. Eat healthy. It’s very easy to go overboard when at home the whole day.
  6. See green, sit watching a tree( maybe meditate looking at the tree, it’s spring/summer already after all)

Now for some harder topics

  1. Plan a quarantine area in your home till the infected person reaches the hospital.
  2. Talk about elderly and the young or anybody who lives with you who has a weak immune system. Plan how you/family should handle the situation.
  3. Be prepared for loses, loved ones, friends, family….
  4. Plan your finances, the markets are on a roller coaster, if you need to tide for long how will you work your investments.
  5. Think and act frugally, indulge lesser. It’s not about you alone. If this situation holds long, it’s about the society.

I always say that there will be a way out. I have faith in humanity to make this through. In a few years looking back on this post I might feel foolish having written this, or there would be many memories, painful and nice.
